Passionate about the English language & Perfection in the printed word
I know stuff.
A lot of people can proofread, but do they know whether it's:
J.D. Powers?
J.D. Power's?
J.D. Power?
JD Power?
Do you know what it should be?
I research for confirmation of facts.
Is it:
Nothland, Connecticut?
Northland, Connecticut?
Netherland, Connecticut?
If it doesn't sound right and/or look right, I investigate.

Following my first professional work as a feature writer & photographer in 1986, I began to explore numerous avenues of practice: fiction & nonfiction book editing, advertising & PR copywriter, award-winning short fiction & essay writer, magazine feature article writer, novelist—and my true calling ... copy editor/proofreader.
My idea of fun is to read (and highlight extensively in) my dog-eared copies of the Chicago Manual of Style and Gregg Reference Manual.
I once made it my sole ambition to skip all of my junior high school English classes and hang out at railway sidings instead. And although it was a grand adventure—playing "Hobo" for a few years—ultimately I had to go out into the real world.
Well, it was a long journey, but in due course ...
I became a writer.
Then a proofreader.
And now, an authoritative copy editor because … well …
God has a great sense of humor.
And so do I. In fact, one of my favorite authors is a humorist—some guy named Twelve Feet Deep.
I strive to Serve, Honor and Glorify God through my work.
And now, because I have been transformed into a creature that even I don’t recognize, I agonize day and night over the rampant incorrect usage of apostrophes; I cringe at the improper usage of lay, lie, laid, and lain.
I sleepwalk to the headstones of the adverb and the gerund and weep at their demise.
And lately it seems that prepositions are trapped in an endless game of musical chairs—in which it is often the wrong ones that sit down in the sentence.
So I apply my passion to help others look their best by polishing any writing that needs a spit shine.
You can trust me to proofread and copy edit your materials because I am passionate about the English language and perfection in the printed word. That's just how I was created.
